Long time since I've been in mylapore for the aruvathimoovar thiruvizha, we used to live around the corner from the temple. But cant remember seeing any of these vahanams, i only remember the unending crowd and the gypsies selling all the plastic accessories. I also seem to remember the aruvathimoovar being taken out on a procession in small vahanams of somekind, not sure if I am just imagining it though.
You remember right WA. Yes, the statues of the 63 saints are taken out in palanquins - 2 saints in each palanquin. This time I could not make it to the temple chariot and the aruvathimoovar events. I plan to scan a few pics I had taken a few years back and post them later this week. The gypsies still come and sell the usual beads and stone ornaments and knick-knacks.
