A procession carrying `kavadi' makes its way through Chennai streets to the Murugan Temple at Vadapalani, Chennai. In the background can be seen the traffic as office goers head home at the end of the day. The traditional and the modern -- a nice mix I like about Chennai. Posted by Picasa

Vadapalani...I hate getting to that area by bus. For some reason, after reading your post, I am reminded of the bus journey!:-)

Deepa, you will probably like it even less now. Getting to Vadapalani from any part of the city, any time of the day, means taking one of the busiest and traffic-packed roads.

Vadapalani - nostalgic memories. I grew up in the area and I remember the countless times my mom dragged me there. Those days, we could walk from home, a good 2-3 kms and not feel the stress or smoke/dust and wonder which bike or auto is going to trample you!

I miss good old madras [I WON'T call in Chennai!]
